Water Based Rescue;
(3-5 days)

Swift Water Rescue:
    This three day IWLS course is designed for guides, expedition leaders and outdoor enthusiasts recreating and leading on rivers. Learn a full complement of river rescue skills including swimming rescues, basic mechanical advantage systems, boat based rescues, rope systems, and shore rescues. The curriculum includes:
    • River equipment care/use/maintenance
    • boat-based rescue
    • swimming rescue
    • basic mechanical advantage
    • shore rescue and rope rescue.

An independently verified practical skills examination on final day requires the student to demonstrate: swimming rescue, throw bag rescue and mechanical advantage system. Learn the skills necessary to be a competent leader and rescuer in flowing water conditions!

Sea Kayaking Rescue Skills:
    Learn sea kayak rescue skills including: important strokes, self rescue, assisted improvisational rescues, towing in advanced conditions, emergency response procedures and rescue management. This three day course is essential for anyone participating in sea kayak expeditions. This American Canoe Association (ACA) coastal kayaking skills course is taught by ACA certified instructors.
The curriculum includes:
    • Essential strokes for performing rescues
    • Self-rescues
    • A variety of assisted improvisational rescues
    • Towing in advanced conditions
    • Emergency procedures and Rescue management
    Certificate of participation shows that you have successfully completed this nationally recognized standard.
