Whitewater Captain a paddle raft, row an oar frame, or paddle an inflatable kayak on exciting Class IV rapids and extended wilderness river expeditions. Repeated descents and ongoing practice help students develop the confidence and leadership skills to safely navigate series of holes, eddies, and wave chains. Students gain an understanding of hydrology and become adept at reading river dynamics on the move. You'll learn swiftwater rescue techniques to unpin rafts, safely cross rivers, and rescue swimmers in challenging rapids.
After completing raft guide training and swiftwater rescue, you'll implement newly learned skills on an extended river expedition. Whether rafting the steep rivers of Nepal, tropical descents in Ecuador, or the glacially fed rivers of the Yukon, an IWLS whitewater course will give you the raft guiding skills to lead and explore challenging river expeditions around the world.
