Week-Long Leadership & Guide Training Courses
(6 & 7 days)
Not everybody can take off for long multi-day expeditions into the wilderness and we understand how difficult it can be to find time in our busy lives to get away for even short time periods. These 6- and 7-day programs offer technical skills training and wilderness adventure in some of the most unique areas of North America.
You’ll still get into the backcountry and have time to experience the wildness and beauty of these settings, while also learning the essential skills for safe exploration. These programs are condensed versions of our longer courses, where we cover the major skill sets necessary for recreating in the backcountry. The skills you will learn can serve as a springboard into larger expeditions, enrich the trips you already do, or give you the technical expertise for confident wilderness travel.
Develop your technical mountaineering skills in one of these incredible mountain areas of North America. The extensive ice cap of Alaska is an ideal setting to develop your expedition climbing skills.
The untold variety of first descent options in Alaska provide an excellent backdrop for developing your ski and snowboard mountaineering skills. These shorter programs access these amazing ranges and focus on technical skill development and avalanche awareness.
Imagine practicing technical rescues in open water, paddling through pristine waters next to humpback whales, and hiking along remote island beaches along the Inside Passage. Glacier Bay National Park and the Inside Passage offer some of the best sea kayaking found in North America.
Top-roping on granite slabs, perfecting technique on off-width cracks, and multi-pitch faces are some examples of the quality and variety of rock in Alaska. Develop your technical skills on alpine rock!
