Professional Sea Kayak Rescue

This three day IWLS course is designed for guides, expedition leaders, and professional organizations. The sport of sea kayaking is often mellow and pleasant. When the wind builds and the waves begin to break unexpectedly, your competency is highlighted quickly. What is your strategy if you have a missing swimmer? What is the appropriate rescue technique? How do you tow an incapacitated paddler through waves? This course will provide instruction and practice with sea kayak rescue techniques, risk management, and trip planning.

Our courses are based in Haines, Alaska. If you are interested in a custom course for your group elsewhere, please visit our Custom Programs page or contact us.

IWLS curriculum is accredited by AEE and is informed by decades of experience instructing and guiding in the waters of SE Alaska and beyond. Our rescue courses give participants a solid foundation of skills through hands on learning in the field combined with safety and rescue skills presented in a classroom setting.
