Swiftwater Rescue

This three day IWLS course is designed for guides, expedition leaders, and outdoor enthusiasts recreating and leading on rivers. Learn the water- and shore-based rescue skills necessary to further both your professional and personal boating skills for a spectrum of river scenarios in this 3-day course.

With over 25 years of experience leading expeditions and training professionals, we pride ourselves in our river knowledge, swiftwater rescue, and safety precautions out on the river. Our swiftwater rescue courses give participants a solid foundation of skills through hands on learning in the field combined with safety and rescue skills presented in a classroom setting.

Course Details

Description
The IWLS Swiftwater Rescue course is designed for those who recreate and making their living on rivers, alike. Learn a full complement of river rescue skills including self rescue, swimming rescues, basic mechanical advantage systems, boat-based rescues, rope systems, and shore-based rescues.
 
Our instructors have spent the majority of their lives on rivers. They have decades of experience with hydrology, swiftwater rescue, and boating safety. They will impart their skills and knowledge to each student on this course.
 
An independently verified practical skills examination on the final day requires the student to demonstrate: swimming rescue, throw bag rescue, and mechanical advantage systems. Learn the skills necessary to be a competent leader and rescuer in all types of water conditions!
