IWLS offers a complete program of courses and trips for high school age students around the world! Our primary youth program locations are Alaska and Utah, however we often create custom programming in other locations around the world from the Pacific Northwest, Africa, and South America. Kayaking with humpback whales in Alaska, backpacking in the alpine tundra, climbing a peak in British Columbia, rock climbing in Utah's west desert, and rafting whitewater in the Yukon are some of the exciting experiences waiting for adventurous teens.
Imagine kayaking through the pristine waters of the Inside Passage, navigating slot canyons in Utah, standing in awe of snow-capped peaks and blue glaciers in British Columbia, or learning how to navigate with a map and compass in the Yukon tundra. These courses are the perfect locations for learning new skills, making new friends, and developing social and environmental awareness.
We are experts and teaching, leading and mentoring youth in the wilderness. We've been leading youth groups since our inception in 1992. Our instructors have a passion for instilling appreciation of the outdoors and individual growth that comes from overcoming challenges and working together as a team.
